Lucie Schmidt

Lucie Schmidt is the John J. Gibson Professor of Economics at Williams College, a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and a Co-editor of the Review of the Economics of the Household. She is an empirical microeconomist working in the fields of labor and health economics and the economics of the family. Specific research areas include social safety net programs in the United States with a particular focus on programs for individuals with disabilities; retirement security; and the economics of marriage and fertility decisions. Her work has been published in the Journal of Human Resources, the Journal of Public Economics, the Journal of Health Economics, and Demography, among others. She has an A.B. in Government from Smith College and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan.
