Joana Silva is an Associate Professor at CATÓLICA-LISBON since 2019. Joana is also collaborating with the World Bank, an institution where she was a senior research economist for 12 year. Joana has expertise in applied microeconomics, with particular focus on development, labor markets, international trade, firm dynamics, and policy evaluation.
Her research has been published in leading academic journals, including the American Economic Review, Journal of International Economics and Review of International Economics, and other specialized outlets. At the World Bank, Joana lead large research programs on Poverty, Inequality and Social programs. She is author of four books, including two World Bank Regional flagship reports. Joana has a PhD in Economics from the University of Nottingham.
