Xueshi Wang is a rising third-year Ph.D. student in the Economics program at Michigan State University. Growing up with a twin brother in a traditional Chinese family in a paternalism society, she starts to observe the differential treatment she receives from her father at an early age. After entering the Ph.D. program, she became more attuned to observing injustice in society. She feels passionate about tackling inequality and gender-related social issues through the lens of economics. She is particularly interested in women’s reproductive health and children’s health. Conducting research that ultimately lightens the burden of childbearing for all women has always piqued her interest.

Born January 3, 1990 in COVE (BENIN), Christ Arsène OUINSOU obtained his Baccalaureate Series D at the 19 old in Benin. After obtaining the degree in Economics option Project Analysis in 2012 at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Abomey Calavi, he received a scholarship from the European Union to do the master 1 and the Master 2 in Economics option Industrial Economics at the University of Yaoundé 2 in Cameroon. On his return to Benin in 2018, he obtained a doctoral thesis registration at the same university where he obtained the license. Currently, he is in his third year of thesis. Following this Master 2 dissertation work, her doctoral thesis focused on "Innovations and structural transformation of the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa". He is therefore passionate about innovation. In addition, Christ Arsène OUINSOU is also a comedian.

I am currently a Ph.D. student at Iowa State University. I completed my Master's in Economics from the Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, and my Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Calcutta, India. My current research work lies at the intersections of Environmental Justice and Neonatal Health in US. Broadly, I am interested in studying environmental inequalities in both developed and,
developing country context.

Ola is a MRes/PhD candidate in the Department of Economics at the LSE. She holds an MSc in Economics from the LSE and a BS in Economics and a BA in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to the MRes/PhD program, she spent 4 years working in economic policy and strategy consulting in the Middle East. Her research interests lie at the intersection of labor, development, and education economics. Increasingly, she has also become interested in artificial intelligence and its implications on inequality and redistributive economics. She is currently a research assistant at the Centre for Economic Performance.

Maria Hatalis is currently a PhD Candidate at the Rutgers Business School, with a concentration in Economics. In particular, her research interests include fields in applied economics such as international economics, development economics, and business economics. Her research focuses on cross-border acquisitions and its effect on a firm’s financial performance, corporate value, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) ratings. Prior to this, she was working as a Credit Risk Analyst at Morgan Stanley in Manhattan for two and a half years. Maria also graduated from Lehigh University where she earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Economics.

Neeraj is currently a Ph.D. scholar in the economics department at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow.


His research interest is in developmental economics with a special focus on issues related to education, gender, health, and labor. His work focuses on understanding the causes and consequences of human capital formation (for instance, with education and health), especially in the context of fast-growing
developing countries. All his current working papers and projects are aligned with these critical areas where he is empirically analyzing the impact of various policies adopted by the government.

My name is Sakina. I am an applied economics Ph.D. student at the University of Wisconsin, Madison researching on development economics and gender differences in the economy. I also like to think about the role of social norms in the economy. I am originally from Japan.

I’ve been fascinated by research in development economics since I started my bachelor in Economics at the University of Salamanca. For this reason, I decided to pursue a Master in Development Economics from the Georg-August University of Göttingen, where I worked as a research assistant and field research assistant for multiple research groups in the development economics department. After finishing my masters, I worked as visiting researcher at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) focusing primarily on policy related to Climate-Smart Agriculture. To return to empirical research, I applied and was accepted for a very competitive Ph.D. position at the ifo Institute and the Munich Graduate School of Economics of the Ludwig-Maximiliams University

Karan is a student at the University of Luxembourg and Luxembourg Institute of Socioeconomic Research (LISER) where he is working on understanding factors related to underrepresentation in economics academia and PhD field choices.

He has a master's degree in economics from the Centre for Development Studies (Trivandrum, India). Prior to enrolling in his Ph.D., he worked for six years and led various research and policy projects in education, early childhood, gender, rural livelihood, social protection policies, and urban governance.

Elisa Vilorio Medina is a Ph.D. candidate and Fulbright Scholar in Economics at Florida International University. Before her Ph.D., she was the Deputy Director of the Foreign Exchange Reserve Management at the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, where she was responsible for the quantitative, risk, analytics, and investment strategies of the Foreign Reserve Portfolio (Approx. USD 14b). Her dissertation focuses on the impacts of exogenous shocks in macroeconomic variables such as inflation and exchange rate, using Structural Vector Autoregression models (SVAR). Ms. Vilorio Medina holds a Master of Science in Finance from the IAE Aix en Provence in France, and a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra
