I am a Ph.D. candidate at the Economics and Planning Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi. I am particularly interested in development economics, labor economics and political economy as well as applications of machine learning in these areas.
Yiming Cao is a PhD candidate in Economics at Boston University. He works at the intersection of development economics and political economy. His research centers around topics such as bureaucracy, corruption, and conflict. His recent work examines building damages in the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake and provides evidence of how the patron-client relationship creates social vulnerabilities that magnify the impact of negative shocks. He is also in the progress of identifying information flows among politicians and personal networks using state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) techniques. Prior to Joining Boston University, he received his bachelor's degree at Fudan University.
Chris Boyd is a PhD candidate in Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota. Before her PhD, she was a junior researcher at a Peruvian Think Tank (The Institute of Peruvian Studies), where she studied diverse topics related to Rural Development, especially financial literacy, and ran impact evaluations. Her dissertation focuses on the impacts of food price and food price risk, using primary and secondary data from different sources. Currently, she is also a graduate trainee in Population Studies at the Minnesota Population Center, where she studies the relationship between women’s time-use, climate, and child nutrition in rural Uganda
Amos is a graduate research assistant at Anadolu University, Eskisehir Turkey. His research interest focuses on Development Economics, Finance and Applied Microeconomics, particularly in understanding how financing frictions affect firm performance in developing countries. He holds a BA. Development Finance (Microfinance), MA. Economic Policy Management from Makerere University and currently finalizing his PhD in Economics. Prior to doing his PhD, he worked as an investment advisor, lecturer, and finance officer. He was also a 2019 Young African Leaders Fellow at Kenyatta University Nairobi Kenya.
