Shagufta teaches economics courses at IBA and regularly writes in newspapers. She has worked at OICCI as senior researcher and at CBER (IBA). She has been part of several research projects including development of Shadow Budget for Sindh government, National Initiative for SDGs, Sindh Tax Revenue Mobilization Plan etc. Shagufta has contributed a chapter in each of the two e-books on the impact of COVID-19 on the Pakistani economy and has provided assistance in the e-book “Policy response during challenging times". She is currently co-authoring book "Development Pathways".
