Dilip Mookherjee studied economics at Presidency College, Calcutta and Delhi School of Economics, and received his PhD in 1982 from London School of Economics. He taught at Stanford University from 1982 to 1989, the Indian Statistical Institute in New Delhi from 1989 till 1995. Since 1995 he has been teaching at Boston University in the Department of Economics, besides directing the Institute for Economic Development since 1998. His main research interests are development, inequality, organizations and political economy. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society, a fellow/affiliate of NBER, CEPR and BREAD.
