Randi Hjalmarsson is a Professor of Economics at the University of Gothenburg and CEPR Research Fellow. She is labor economist, with a research emphasis on the economics of crime and the criminal justice system. Hjalmarsson sits on the councils for the European Society for Population Economics and European Association of Labour Economics. She is co-editor of the Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization and currently chairing the committee for the European Job Market for Economists. Hjalmarsson received her PhD in 2005 at Yale University and has been previously employed at the University of Maryland and Queen Mary University of London.
