Mitali Roy Mathur is a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of California, Davis.

Her research causally identifies how policy design shapes whether marginalized groups access the jobs, programs, and legal rights they are eligible for. She applies these questions to two settings. In development economics, she implements field experiments to evaluate programs impacting informal and gig workers. In labor economics, she studies the impacts of immigration policies on different immigrant groups.

Mitali received her B.S. in international economics from Georgetown University and previously worked as a junior economist at IDinsight.
