Fatima is a first-generation PhD candidate in Agricultural & Resource Economics at the University of Maryland, College Park, on the 2024-25 job market. She specializes in development & environmental economics, focusing on how vulnerable households respond to environmental shocks, the effects on their well-being, & the factors that contribute to their resilience.


Her dissertation examines the impact of flood shocks in rural Bangladesh on intra household decision-making & resource allocation, with a particular focus on women's vulnerability.

Fatima holds a Master's degree in International & Development Economics from Yale University & a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences. She also has experience working at the World Bank, where she contributed to policy-relevant research on topics such as energy access, female labor force participation, maternal health, & girls' education in South Asia
