Saloni Taneja is a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Southern California, working in urban and environmental economics. One strand of her research examines how households in developing cities adapt to gaps in public service delivery, focusing on rationed public water supply. Her work studies the costs of private adaptation for shared resources, and the industrial organization of markets that enable adaptation. A second strand examines how environmental risk and housing policy shape land and housing markets. Prior to her PhD, Saloni was a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL South Asia, where she worked on field experiments on wage insurance and public service delivery in rural India. She holds a master's degree in Economics from Ashoka University and a bachelor's degree in Economics from Delhi University.
