Hamida Mubasshera is an applied microeconomist whose research lies at the intersection of health economics, economics of crime, public policy, and the economics of risky behavior. She received her PhD in Economics from Temple University, where her dissertation examined the social and behavioral consequences of internet pornography.

Her research has been published in Health Economics, including a study examining the relationship between pornography use during adolescence and risky sexual behavior. Her wider research agenda explores emerging policy questions related to digital governance and risky behavior. She is particularly interested in socially important topics that are difficult to study but have significant implications for individual and public well being. She is also committed to teaching and mentoring students, with teaching interests in health economics, and introductory principles courses.
