Shreya Malhotra is an applied microeconomist specializing in labor and gender economics. She is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Barney School of Business, University of Hartford, and holds a Humanities Center Fellowship. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India.

Her research uses causal inference methods, difference-in-differences, instrumental variables, and staggered adoption designs — to study how policy shapes gender gaps in economic outcomes. Her current work includes a study of gender disparities in PPP program, and a working paper on the wage effects of Ban-the-Box policies for women using CPS data, and research on housing price-rent dynamics. Her earlier theoretical work examined divorce law and domestic violence through a game-theoretic lens, published in Arthaniti.

Shreya's work spans applied microeconomics, labor economics, and law and economics, combining theoretical and empirical approaches to questions of gender, policy, and institutions. She is a recipient of a Humanities Center Fellowship and a Davis curriculum grant and was awarded the Graduate Students' Favorite Professor Award in recognition of her teaching. She was also selected for the CTEI Summer Institute, reflecting her continued engagement in pedagogical innovation.
